I always like analyzing conversations and pondering why people say certain things. I'm not sure why I find this entertaining. I guess I'm just abnormal.
One of the definitions for normal in the Merriam-Webster English Dictionary is as follows:
conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern.
I'm sure in most people's lives someone has called them "normal."
Chances are, most people who have been called this respond with something like, "define normal."
According to the train of thought this day in age, normality doesn't exist. People are so set on the idea of individuality, they no longer think conformity thrives. If someone were called "normal," then wouldn't that be the epitome of individuality? If everyone was unique, but one person was normal, wouldn't that one person be more unique than everyone else? He/She wouldn't have anything to conform to.
What if the search for personal individuality met the dictionary's definition for normal. What then? Would normal and unique be opposites, or the same thing? It's up to you to think for yourself. I'm just saying there are at least two ways to look at anything.
Goodnight,
Dan
